I purchased this product a while back on a separate sale that The Body Shop was running, but it is currently 25% off on the brand's website, and I presume in store as well!

Since I have so many neutrals in my makeup stash, I occasionally force myself to buy colors that are out of my comfort zone. Though I don't recall the details of the sale that prompted me to buy this shade, I do remember picking up another shade (which has since been discontinued) as well as a body butter (or three).  On an unrelated note; I can't get enough body butter in general. They are a total weakness for me!

Spearmint is a mint green with strong blue tones to it, almost leaning into an icy teal sort of territory. I didn't have anything in my collection like this, minus the matte mint shade from the LORAC Mint palette, which I find myself wearing with this shade quite a bit.

The texture to this shadow is different than most; it has a sponge-y yet solid texture that is incidentally, quite difficult to explain. My thought to the texture is that it probably feels this way due to the infusion of Namibian Marula Oil; from this, the shadow is meant to have moisturizing qualities without creasing, etc. 

This shade is one of those "swatches better than it applies" shades, but definitely not the worst I've come across. With a flat, synthetic brush, I was able to get almost true to pan intensity. The wear time was slightly below average for me, even wearing this over MAC Painterly as a base. I assume this is due to the Marula Oil and the fact that I have naturally oily lids. Thankfully, it didn't really crease, but rather just faded. It was still a bit of a bummer.

One thing that bears mentioning is The Body Shop's ethics; all of their products are cruelty free and use fair trade natural ingredients from all around the world. - Which surprises me, since the brand is owned by none other than L'Oreal.

Overall;

Pros: 

- Unique texture, good color payoff.

- Infused with natural moisturizing ingredients. 

- Cruelty free and fair trade.

Cons:

- Less than stellar wear time; faded somewhat quickly.

I firmly believe that this product would fare better on someone with less oily lids than mine, but the Marula Oil coupled with my skin time made for quick fading. If you have drier lids, give these a shot.

Quick MAC Baking Beauties Mini Haul!

With how much hype was surrounding this launch, I knew things would sell out fast. However, I didn't expect Lavender Whip to sell out at my go-to counter on the first day! Thankfully, I work in an area that has an abundance of MAC counters, so going to another location wasn't that big of a deal; but wow!

I ended up going to two counters and picking up Pink Buttercream and Lavender Whip. I also intend on taking a look at Pure Decoration and Raspberry Swirl on a later date - the two shades were "like to have" rather than "must have" shades, so if they're still in stock the next time I go then they were just meant to be. I just HAD to have Pink Buttercream and Lavender whip.

Review - Pixi Correction Concentrate

I took a day of leave from the blogging world yesterday to get some much needed errands accomplished, since I had a day off from work. I felt so accomplished; even my truck is clean! Well...the inside of my truck. The outside is still probably accumulating more dirt as we speak.

As many of you already know, I spent the better part of the last week and a half sick as a dog with a chest cold. I'm feeling much better; almost back to my old self! That one was a doozy, seeing as I nearly never get sick. Thankfully, I didn't really look as bad as I felt, and I feel like a MAJOR shout out goes to this product right here - the Pixi Correction Concentrate. 

The product is held in a small glass pot with a mint green lid featuring a fairy - pretty darn cute!

The product itself is a salmon-y peach concealer with a medium to medium thick consistency. As you may already know, the peach and salmon tones are meant to neutralize under-eye circles; just as green concealers neutralize blemishes, etc.  It is available in one tone, nothing lighter nor darker, and that worried me just a tad - seeing as I am so fair skinned, I feared that this would be to dark against my skin and thus, not accomplish what it was intended to in the first place, but it worked like a dream!

I apply this after my foundation with a medium sized pointed concealer brush and it blends easily; even without having the product warmed up on my fingertips. I do not have extremely prominent under-eye circles, but they're there and this covers them completely without much work, which leads me to believe that it would also work on those who suffer from dark under-eye circles which are worse than mine. As a habit, I also set this with a powder as I do the rest of my face and thus, have not noticed any creasing or anything of the sort. It bears mentioning that the medium consistency provides a touch less color payoff than I expected, but it can be built up to conceal more.

Overall; 

Pros:

- Seems to be a very universal shade.

- Blends naturally

- Medium consistency

Cons:

- May not be pigmented enough for incredibly prominent dark circles.

For a while, it was between this product and Bobbi Brown's take on it; I went cheaper - Pixi at $15 and Bobbi Brown at $23. While I am VERY fond of this product, I may try Bobbi Brown's for good measure - and the fact that there are 4 different peach shades to choose from, ranging from porcelain to deep. While its not a super budget option; Pixi's was cheaper and definitely gets the job done!

Review - Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara

I received this product as part of a GWP that I hauled from Clinique last month. I have the haul post here, and I have previously reviewed the eyeshadow and blush palette, the Black Honey Almost Lipstick, and the Iced Lotus Blush. This is a mini size of the mascara, however, I'm getting a good amount of use out of it so far.

The lash doubling mascara has quickly become one of my favorites; which is really saying something because I find myself getting indifferent to mascara - I have naturally full, long lashes, so sometimes I find mascaras to be a one trick pony. However, I think the reason that I like this one for a reason that is not entirely what it intended.

The wand is thin and tapered with average length bristles and the applicator part of the wand is actually rather long in comparison. The end gets pretty skinny so I'm easily able to get to the lashes on the inner and outer corners of my eyes easily.

The goal of this product is to add volume; however I found that for my lashes it provided more length and definition than anything - which I was 100% okay with. When I wear this mascara, I feel like I have long, glamorous lashes that look like they are believably mine. 

As with how I generally prefer my mascaras, this product dried quickly and completely - I prefer drier formulas as a feel like wetter formulas clump my lashes together - but did not cause any flaking on me either.

Overall:

Pros:

- Gave my lashes a long, defined, yet natural look.

- Drier formula.

Cons:

- Marketed as volumizing, but I've used other, cheaper mascaras that provided more volume.

I tend to go cheap with mascara, given my general indifference - however, if this is in a value set again I'll probably gladly oblige.

Review - Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sorbet

- Before I dive into my review, I would like to take a moment to show my support for my readers and anyone else affected by what happened in Boston this afternoon. What an incredibly awful situation; my prayers and thoughts are with you.-

Revlon found a whole lot of success with the Lip Butter range since it's release, and thus have widened their shade range for this spring, with this shade - Sorbet- as well as three others - Juicy Papaya, Wild Watermelon and Pink Lemonade, which are all very on trend for spring.

Sorbet is a hot pink shade that neither leads too warm, nor all too fuchsia at the same time. It is fairly neutral toned, and thus would work on a wide range of skin tones. I originally thought that this shade would be too close to Lollipop, but it is much less fuchsia in comparison. Sorbet does look similar to Sweet Tart, but I feel that Sweet Tart is a bit warmer. While I do own Sweet Tart, I found that Sorbet was a bit more wearable across the board on my skin due to the neutral tones; it just goes with a large amount of looks. 

The formulation of this shade is consistent with the remainder of the range. especially the medium to dark shades. The color payoff is semi-opaque which can be easily worked up to opaque. This shade stuck around for about 2 hours before it definitely needed reapplication, but there was a touch of color left behind.  While the formula of this range does not provide my lips with much hydration, it does not dry out my lips either. 

Overall;

Pros:

- Neutral take on hot pink; quite wearable.

- Does not cause drying on the lips.

- On trend shade for spring.

Cons:

- Short wear time.

I personally do not have a lot of neutral pinks like this one, so it was a nice addition to my collection. In terms of the rest of the new shades, I may check out Juicy Papaya as I really don't have many shades like that, but given how many lip butters I already have, I'll need to wait for more unique shades from Revlon.

ULTA Haul with GWP!

On my way home from work this afternoon I stopped into ULTA and found out they were running a GWP Sale. With any purchase of $19.50 or more from ULTA's range, you can receive one of four 10 piece gift bags in the choice of two styles and four different bags as well as your choice of an ULTA single eyeshadow and ULTA eyeliner. I thought it was a pretty great deal, so I decided to check out what ULTA's rage had to offer. I decided on the ULTA Professional 6 Piece Brush set which retails for $25.

The brush set comes with a silver, quilted, zippered clutch that was intended to store the brushes. However, there are no individual brush holders in the clutch, but I will definitely find myself using this; just maybe not for the intended purpose. 

All of the brushes are synthetic and they have white handles with icy blue bristles. Included are a blush brush, foundation brush, eyeshadow brush, crease brush and smudger brush. All of the brushes are average length and at first touch feel soft. I will be including a separate review of the brushes as a whole rather than separately, as they are only sold in this set.

Onto the GWP! There were four bags to choose from and I decided on the "pink bloom print". Shocker, huh? For my free shadow and liner I chose the Glittering Sand single eyeshadow and the Kohl Liner in Smoky Gray, which was not available online.

There were two different options as to what kind of bag was available; both a cool (pinks) and warm (corals) option. Pinker shades tend to flatter me more, so I went with it! The bag includes a Lipstick in the shade Precious Pink, a Super Shiny Lipgloss in the shade Starlet, a Cheek Color blush in Infatuation, a Nail Lacquer in Fuchsiamania, the Amped Lashes Mascara, the Ultimate Clean Foaming Face Wash and a trio of brushes (A contour blush brush, sponge tip brush and a shadow brush). All products are available for purchase separately (minus the brushes I believe) so I will be reviewing them as such.

While I was in the store, I made sure I picked up a couple other things that I've been wanting, which were separate from the GWP; Zoya Pixiedust Nail Lacquer in Vespa, Smashbox Double Ended Lip Enhancing Gloss in Luxe/Catwalk and NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Lavender.

At the register, I was told that I save over $120 dollars through this promotion! Great deal - Check it out!

Review - MAC Cremesheen Glass in Deelight

This was the first product that I purchased from MAC; about three years ago at that. It was the spark that started a nearly obsessive fire.

As I went on MAC's site this evening to double check that this was still available, I was having trouble finding it - I had a mini heart attack because I couldn't seem to locate it! Turns out I've just had far too much cold medicine and it was literally right in front of my face. But I hope MAC never decides to discontinue this shade; its a staple of mine!

Cremesheen Glasses are housed in a longer tube than the Lipglasses and retail for $20 rather than $15; they do, however, contain less product. Color me fooled; I thought there was more product this entire time! As you can see, I'm down to the bare minimum of this shade and the lettering on the packaging is beginning to wear off.

Cremesheen Glasses also have an average doe foot applicator.

MAC calls Deelight a "mid-tone neutral". It is a rosy, beige-y mauve shade that is in fact very neutral; it does not lean either cool or warm toned.  In turn it literally goes with ANYTHING! I've worn this when I was wearing a t-shirt and jeans on my way to the grocery store, glammed up for a evening out with my friends, and even for job interviews. No wonder its almost gone!

The formula of the Cremesheen Glasses does differ from that of the Lipglasses. I find it to be a much thinner - and in turn less sticky - formula. However, with the thinner consistency comes a shorter wear time. I've been able to milk this shade for 2 hours before it was totally gone, but I usually find myself reapplying sooner. 

I'm glad that this formula does not react the same way on my lips as the Cremesheen Lipstick formula. Usually, Cremesheens parch my lips of any moisture (minus Outrageously Fun) but I had no such problem with the gloss take on Cremesheen. I have two other Cremesheen Glasses, Going Casual and Color Saturation, and the formula is consistent with Deelight.

Overall;

Pros:

- Neutral shade, wearable on a wide array of skin tones.

- Thin, non sticky consistency.

- Does not dry out my lips.

Cons:

- Shorter wear time

I'm starting to have to do a bit of work to get the product out of the tube. When its time to add this to my Back 2 MAC stash, I'll definitely replace it. Deelight has done me well and is a staple in my collection.
